Description
The saxon army 181-1813. No other army of the Confederation of the Rhine went through such drastic chances in organisation and uniforms then the saxon army. After the defeat at the side of the prussian army at Jena/Auerstaedt and the campaign of 1809 as part of Napoleons army, it made the experience of a totally reform. Afterwards the saxons looked like french soldiers, but in different colours. Volume 13 of the "Heere and Waffen"-series ("Armies and weapons") shows this "new saxon army" in contemporary prints and coloured new plates by Patrice Courcelles and Edmund Wagner. All different regiments are portrayed by Dr. Peter Bunde. The book is completed by a history of the saxon army in the years 1810-1813.
