Description
Günter Kießling was the highest German general within the NATO hierarchy in 1983. Now his honourable retirement was imminent. But then a rumour surfaced that he was homosexual. Without serious examination, Kiessling was secretly dismissed. When this became known, a storm of indignation broke out. Kießling had to be reinstated by Defence Minister Wörner and was given the "Grand Taps" he deserved. The minister's reputation and that of the Military Counter-Intelligence Service were permanently damaged, and a completely outdated world view emerged in the Bundeswehr. Heiner Möllers meticulously reconstructs the events, has for the first time been able to see secret reports that have been released and has spoken to many of those involved at the time who are now breaking their silence.
