Fighting Squadron 53 was deployed to theatres in Poland, France, England and Russia during World War 2. The designation "Legion Condor" was awarded to the squadron on 12 June 1939 in Berlin. To prevent misunderstandings from the outset: KG 53 was not the "Legion Condor" used in the Spanish Civil War. This traditional designation was given to an anti-aircraft artillery regiment and an air force intelligence regiment at the same time. The author succeeded in meticulously documenting the historical development of the unit and bringing it to life with gripping individual narratives as well as historically valuable photographic material.
