Description
This third volume of the multi-volume work "Swedish Period in Franconia and Swabia" is the conclusion of a small series. It is divided into two parts with two different subject areas. On the one hand, it is about the peace efforts of Duke Franz Albrecht of Saxe-Lauenburg in 1634 on behalf of the Saxon Elector and Wallenstein. These and their failure are particularly clearly demonstrated by the reproduction of the interrogations of Duke Franz Albrechts, Captain von Henning, the secretary Keyser and the attendant Gumpelzhaimer.
The statements of the Friedland secretary Dr. Kempfer, the doctor Dr. Beer and the astrologer Seni. There are also descriptions of the fate of other conspirators, including the trial against them in Regensburg. The second part of the book largely deals with the Swedish occupation of Swabia from 1632-1635. Above all, the military events and conditions in and around Augsburg are described in detail from the perspective of the Swedish military power, Field Marshal Johann Banér, Benedict Oxenstierna and Colonel Johann Georg from Winckel. The difficult negotiations over ration payments and prisoner exchanges are also described. The intensive trade in prisoners, the center of which was Augsburg, is particularly reported. The extremely unusual trade of salt for prisoners is also explained in detail.
