The genesis of the Mirage 2000 goes back to the development of the last experimental prototypes of Avions Marcel Dassault, in particular the Mirage 4000. The Mirage 2000, the first prototype of which flew in 1978, has formed the backbone of French fighter aircraft since 1984 with five different versions used by the French Air Force. These versions of the Mirage 2000 have made it possible to carry out a wide range of missions, both on national territory and in numerous exercises and missions abroad.
Based on the geopolitical and military context of the different eras, the evolution of strategic air doctrines, the needs of the air forces and the requirements of the State, this reference book brings together the development and history of the Mirage 2000 versions in the French air forces, with their origins, their history, their detailed technical design, their deployment, their operational careers and their operational squadrons, and traces them through a large number of unpublished photographs and illustrations.
