The second volume focuses even more on the Kiel figures and the packs in which they went all over the world for seven decades. Since more than 10,000 different figurines cannot be listed in detail in a handy book, let alone illustrated, the author concentrates on the most important and valuable of the Kiefer production, the portrait and special figurines as well as the packs. This well-illustrated handbook for the collector is supplemented by a chapter on the figures of the publishers, whose moulds were adopted by Kiel in the course of time. Illustrations and indexes of the figures by Hinsch, Vollrath, Waibel, Biebel, Mauke, Brandt, Schweiß, Rüther, Eichhorn, Schirmer, Ritter, Meyniel and Teuber will be found as well as a brief account of their lives and work. Complementing the first volume, the richly illustrated index of portrait and special figures shows the most beautiful figures and groups of the Kiel production. Many of them, designed by artists such as Bombled, Krischen and Frauendorf and engraved by masters such as Frank, Maier and Lecke, have become synonymous with the valuable cultural-historical pewter figure. The list of types and packs makes it possible to survey the broad temporal and thematic spectrum of Kiel pewter figures better than any catalogue, and is thus an important guide through seven decades of Kiel pewter figures.
