The editors' intention is to shed light on the soldiering profession, the leadership culture of the Bundeswehr and the framework conditions of soldiering service - on missions as well as in everyday life at home - in as many facets as possible, in a practical way and on the basis of personal experiences, but also of military sociological studies. The wide range of authors - from the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr to young soldiers, from active soldiers to reservists, from members of the Bundestag to the Commissioner for the Armed Forces, from sociologists and journalists to military chaplains, from soldiers' wives to the chairperson of the German Armed Forces Association - describe their experiences and ideas in an impressive manner, reflected in proven norms of behaviour and principles of Innere Führung.
