The first Bundeswehr soldiers to set foot on Afghan soil in January 2002. There they encountered a country destroyed by Taliban rule and civil war and its suffering people. They were hailed as Western helpers and later shot at and wounded as supposed occupiers. On the road on days-long patrols in remote mountain regions, as snipers, service dog handlers, medics or as those responsible in the field camp - in this book soldiers of the Parachute Battalion 313 report on their personal experiences from seven years of deployment in the Hindu Kush.
