(profile), Austria-Hungary 1756-63. Grenadiers were tall elite soldiers originally tasked with throwing grenades into enemy ranks. This task was later dropped, being replaced by the cartridge fire of the artillery, what remained was their deployment at focal points of battle. Each regiment had two grenadier companies. The high bearskin cap with "wings" of cloth, in some with a forehead shield, was the typical Austrian grenadier cap.
